About Silver Tech Guru

Hello, I'm Ed Clark, the owner of SilverTech.Guru (please note it's “.guru” and not “.com”). 

This company is an IT service startup dedicated to simplifying IT for our customers. I want to emphasize upfront that while IT technology can be complex, it's not insurmountable. As Thomas Edison famously said, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” While I may not claim to be a genius, I am persistent and doggedly committed to resolving issues (the “perspiration” part from Thomas’s quote).

How does this quote relate to SilverTech.Guru? I view IT technology as a tool, albeit a complex one. I'm inspired by the genius of others to create these tools, but I understand that most users simply want them to work. Just as most users don’t understand the intricacies of making a hammer (acknowledging that it can be a complex process), they only want the hammer to function when needed. Similarly, with IT technology, users are focused on getting the “Technology Tool” to work with minimal fuss, anxiety, or disruption to their daily lives or businesses.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm an accomplished professional with a diverse background and extensive experiences. As a Navy veteran and former Nuclear Power Machinist Mate, I served my country with distinction before transitioning to civilian life. With a natural knack for problem-solving and a deep passion for technology, I embarked on a career in computer programming, dedicating myself to mastering the craft of software development.

Over the past two decades, I've excelled as a Project/Program Manager and computer programmer leading teams and delivering successful outcomes across various industries. My educational journey includes earning an Associate of Arts degree from Gulf Coast Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Masters in Project Management (MPM) from Washington University of St. Louis.

This comprehensive educational background, coupled with my military service and professional experiences, has equipped me with the wisdom, knowledge, leadership skills, and determination needed to thrive in any endeavor I undertake.

What is a guru? In contemporary contexts, a guru is often someone who  possesses deep knowledge, expertise, and experience in a specific area  and is highly respected and sought after for their insights and  guidance. For example, in the realm of technology, a "tech guru" might  be an individual who is exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable in  various aspects of technology, such as programming, cybersecurity, or IT  infrastructure. Overall, a guru is someone who is recognized for their  mastery of a subject or skill, and who serves as a mentor, teacher, or  guide to others seeking to learn and grow in that area. I am a "guru" in  specific technology domains but a "generalist" in others. What I am is  dogmatic and persistent in finding solutions to problems.

Why did I name my company Silver Tech Guru? Well, it all started with a  simple reflection of who I am and what I bring to the table. With a  distinguished silver beard and a wealth of experience in various IT  fields, I've earned the moniker of 'Tech Guru.' But what sets me apart  is not just my technical prowess; it's my ability to adapt and thrive in  different roles. Whether it's delving into the intricacies of software  development or orchestrating complex IT projects as an “IT” General  Contractor or Project Manager, I'm dedicated to discovering solutions  that best serve my customers. So, when it came time to name my company,  'Silver Tech Guru' felt like the perfect encapsulation of my identity  and expertise—a nod to my silver beard and a testament to my commitment  to guiding clients through the ever-evolving landscape of technology.  While Project Managers and General Contractors operate within different  contexts and industries, their roles share commonalities in managing  projects, resources, risks, and stakeholders to achieve project  objectives efficiently and effectively.
